Finances of the Nation and the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics are thrilled to announce the winner of the third annual 2025 Infographic Competition is Hannah Tsui and Matthew Tang of Corpus Cristi College! The runner-up this year was Saniya Kulkarni of Wilfrid Laurier University.
The competition challenged Canadian post-secondary students to develop an Infographic on an issue in Canadian public policy, preferably with a public finance focus. The theme for this year’s infographic competition was “Fiscal Pressures and Affordability Challenges.”
Hannah and Matthew’s project focused on housing affordability challenges in Canada. In their infographic, they identify rising average rent over time and how average rents vary across Canada. They also highlight several ways in which the federal government has increased spending on various affordability initiatives in response. Despite that increase in targeted spending, however, they illustrate how affordability remains a challenge.

We would also like to thank the judges, Tracy Snoddon, Christine Neill, and Trevor Tombe, for generously contributing their time.
Congratulations again to Hannah and Matthew!
