Personal Income Tax Simulator

About this simulator and how to use it

This simulator estimates how changes to federal and provincial personal income tax rates, brackets and basic personal amounts would change government revenue and the taxes people pay. It starts from the 2026 tax system, applied to a representative sample of Canadians from Statistics Canada’s Social Policy Simulation Database and Model.

To use it, change a rate, move a bracket threshold, add a new bracket or change the basic personal amount, or load an example. The controls sit beside the charts on wide screens and below them on narrow ones. Pick a province above the charts to see and change its taxes. To weigh two alternatives against each other, such as competing election platforms, switch on Compare two scenarios.
