Government Finances

How governments raise money, what they spend it on, and what they own and owe are central questions in Canadian public finance. Finances of the Nation brings together data on the REAL finances of Canada's governments: their revenue, expenditure, assets and liabilities. The data are drawn from official sources, such as Statistics Canada and Finance Canada, and organized into consistent series over time.

To use it, choose a tile to open a dataset, where you can explore the figures and download them. The filters narrow the list by topic.

Pictures on the tiles are illustrations, not data.
